Querença is a Portuguese town in the municipality of Loulé, with an area of 33.66 ksqm and 759 inhabitants (2011). Density: 22.5 inhab / ksqm. Its entire area is part of the Natura 2000 Network.


Querença is located on a hill that gives the village its name, which can already be characterized by the transition between Barrocal and Serra. The houses go down the slope in all directions, at the top is the Nossa Senhora da Assunção Church, also known as the Mother Church. The village is known for its distillation of medronho and chorizo, in addition to other typical features.

Querença is located 3 km northwest of Fonte Filipe and this is located near Amendoeira, close to Cerro da Zorra. Fonte filipe comes from a natural spring in the shape of a lemon, it was rebuilt in 1945. Nowadays it is used for various recreational activities and for the celebration of the 1st of May.


The Local Protected Landscapes of Fonte da Benémola and Rocha da Pena are true ex-libris of the municipality's natural heritage. Rocha da Pena, a steep cornice made of hard limestones, is a magnificent environmental monument of great natural beauty, both from a geological and biodiversity point of view.
